5G base station forward wireless laser data transmission test successful!

On June 9th, under the coordination of the Hubei Provincial Communication Society, Wuhan Liubo Optoelectronics and China Telecom Hubei Transmission Bureau successfully tested the wireless laser (FSO) data transmission experiment between 5G base station PB and PRRU. The experiment showed that the wireless laser data transmission effect was identical to that of fiber optic transmission. This is the first experiment in China to use wireless laser communication (FSO) technology for the transmission of real business data from 5G base stations.

FSO technology can meet the needs of wireless data transmission, emergency communication, and base station extension between 5G base station equipment rooms and antennas in scenarios where fiber optic cable laying is difficult. The use of wireless laser communication technology to solve the problem of high-speed data transmission between devices has expanded the coverage and application fields of 5G base stations. The communication speed of this experiment is 10Gbps, with a communication distance of tens of meters and a maximum communication distance of 2km. It is reported that the experiment of using wireless laser communication technology to achieve business data transmission of 5G base stations has not been reported in China. Figure 1-2 shows the on-site debugging scenario of wireless laser communication equipment. Figure 3 shows the physical image of the 5G base station equipment and indoor 5G antenna used in the experiment.

        In October 2021, the Hubei Provincial Communication Society and Wuhan Liubo Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd. jointly established the Enterprise Innovation Cooperation Base (Figure 4). With the support of the "Science and Technology Innovation Source Project" project of the Hubei Provincial Association for Science and Technology in 2021, Wuhan Liubo Optoelectronics carried out research on the application of wireless laser communication technology in 5G base station data transmission, developed ultra high-speed wireless laser communication equipment, and previously completed 100G rate 400 meter wireless laser communication experiments, The success of this experiment indicates that laser communication technology can be closely combined with 5G data transmission, providing a good cooperation opportunity for Wuhan Liubo Optoelectronics and China Telecom Hubei Transmission Bureau 5G Innovation Laboratory to jointly explore new modes of 5G data transmission. This technology has broad application prospects.
